El Nido Family Centers presents

A Virtual Chef's Table

FEATURING CHEFS SUSAN FENIGER AND MARY SUE MILLIKEN

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2020

Thank you for your support!

OUR STORY DEPENDS ON YOU

El Nido Family Centers has always been a lifeline to the community, but now so more than ever before.

For almost a century, El Nido has been lifting low-income families out of poverty and has now become one of Los Angeles’ essential relief centers during COVID-19. Its staff of 130, consisting of therapists, case managers, child development specialists, nurses, gang prevention staff, and parent educators, serves approximately 15,000 families per year, but in response to the pandemic El Nido has expanded its reach deeper into the community.

Quickly, efficiently, and creatively, El Nido is providing the following COVID-19 relief:

  • Partnering with Mayor Garcetti’s Angeleno Campaign to distribute cash cards ($700-$1,500) to nearly 4,000 households and grocery cards to 300 eligible families (up to $500 each), totaling nearly $5 million.

  • Administering the Monica Rodriguez Emergency Relief Fund ($150-$300K) to directly pay necessary expenses for hard-hit families in the City’s 7th Council District/the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

El Nido has now added new initiatives to our many existing programs. As the current crisis acutely affects the populations we serve—low-income communities of color weathering the crisis with a shattered safety net—El Nido is emphasizing immediate relief efforts as well as creative, virtual options to extend our programming and to promote a more just recovery.

We hope you will join our efforts to help our community.

thank you...
